True Love & False Idols - TLFI Background:

TLFI (True Love and False Idols) is a contemporary graduated streetwear brand with an eye on sophisticated design and a rebellious attitude complemented by a heavy undercurrent of levity. An artist created and owned brand inspired and driven by a growing collective of artists, musicians, and designers, it was started in LA by AWR/MSK/7th Letter alumnus Alex 2tone. The brand is influenced by his interests in film, design, music and Los Angeles street culture.

TLFI likes to work with their peers, and friends, establishing a strong sense of design built on relationships and a shared social commentary, which shows through in their work. True Love and False Idols is known for its distinct graphics, originally developed art pieces, custom silhouettes, and collaborations. Past collaborations include projects with renowned tattoo artist and painter Henry Lewis, graffiti artist Pose MSK / Seventh Letter, designer and artist Munk One, Akiko Stehrenberger and the infamous underground hip-hop group, The Get Busy Committee.

Some Key Notes about the branding, the 2x is a reference to the creator’ (Alex/2tone) graffiti Nom de Plume, (2tone AWR). The TLFI tagline is “IN LOVE WITH A LIFESTYLE I CANT AFFORD” which is self explanatory. Reggie, the Koala, is the team mascot for TLFI because he rules, and the backwards F in the TLFI logo is backwards because it looks incredibly cool.
