In the late 1960Æs Australian surfers Alan Green and John Law chased a dream û to live in Torquay make a living and go surfing. In 1970 Alan and John formed Quiksilver.
While in Torquay Oz for a contest Jeff Hakman got a glimpse of the future: Quiksilver boardshorts. The Quiksilver design was a perfect fit. In 1976 Hakman left Torquay with an agreement to distribute Quiksilver. In the U.S. Jeff enlisted the aid of his surfing friend Bob ôBuzzö McKnight. Green and Law granted Bob and Jeff the American license to the magic Quiksilver boardshort.
By the mid-1970s a small Quiksilver office/warehouse/distribution center was opened in Newport Beach California.
